Valley West Mall is doing their beggars night as well as Family Night on Thursday, October 30th. The hours are 5:30 to 8pm for inflatable rides, face paiting, crafts and costumed charictars and trick or treating from store to store will begin at 6pm and go until 8pm. Please pass the word and update the time on your blog as we certainly don't want to dissapoint any children at the mall. The event will be over at 8pm. Thanks for the mention.

As a newbie to this area, I am wondering why you don't have trick-or-treating on the actual date of Halloween (Oct. 31). I'm glad I read your post, so I can be sure to have plenty of candy on hand the DAY BEFORE!
I've also just been informed that the "beggars" have to tell a joke in order to get their goodie, which evidently explains why you told your joke. Wow. Trick-or-treating is tough in Iowa!
